“When I paint, I go into a trance. I’ll just start out to paint for 15 minutes and then i just keep going and going and going and going. When I wake up I can’t remember doing it. If I’m just given time and space, I can do just about anything”.
Mental health issues have been a major factor in Danny’s life including living with bipolar disorder. Art has helped him through this, as well as recovery from a heroin addiction and being homeless for over 20 years.
Today, Danny has breathing complications associated with asbestosis, but is positive.
“All I’m trying to do is survive as long as I can and be as happy as I can.”
