Irene was born in South Korea and arrived in Australia when she was 17. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Sculpture) from the Victorian College of the Arts and works in a wide variety of media, including ceramic sculpture, painting and installation.
Art means everything to Irene and helps her to relax and heal. Most of the ideas for Irene’s art come from daydreaming and imagining positive things, which fills her with calm and joy. Through this, Irene hopes her art invokes curiosity and imagination and provides positivity and comfort to others – a process she describes as ‘chains of playing’.
